Indications

Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or other quinolone prophylaxis; Use at the lowest dose for shortest period of time consistent with controlled clinical studies.

Treatment of Hypersensitivity to Esomeprazole or Other Quinolone Antibiotics

• For patients who are hypersensitive to esomeprazole antibiotics;
• Esomeprazole (Nexium®) treatment should be discontinued at the first sign of skin rash or peeling of the skin;
• For patients who have responded to clarithromycin, azithromycin or telithromycin;
• For patients who are hypersensitive to nexium (e.g. Zantac®, Nexium®) or other quinolones, or have experienced a hypersensitivity reaction after esomeprazole treatment;
• The duration of treatment should be as short as possible, to allow for an adequate response;
• To prevent recurrence of the disease;
• To prevent relapse of the disease after discontinuation of therapy;
• To prevent relapse of the disease after discontinuation of therapy, therapy should be continued for the duration of the disease;
• For patients who are hypersensitive or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs);
• To treat the signs and symptoms of angioedema (e.g. swelling of the ankles or feet; difficulty in urinating; pain or itching of the skin; red or purple patches on skin; itching; and/or rash);
• To prevent recurrence of the disease after discontinuation of therapy;
• To prevent relapse of angioedema (e.g. swelling of the feet and lower legs; difficulty in urinating; pain or itching of the skin);
